Music & Chants

Music

My original solo acoutic guitar music (and a little baroque lute) has suddenly gotten traction in the last few years, now at 4 million streams and adding another million every six months. The most-loved tracks include Redstone (from Offerings) and The Honey Song (from Meadow Run

If you’d like to support my work, one of the simplest and most meaningful ways is to simply listen and share. Each play nourishes the Field of life and practice we share — energetically as well as practically. Every stream truly helps sustain the work.

Music with specific Buddhist themes is listed below. The CD title on which each piece is found is given in parentheses.

Amitabha Buddha (The Redwood Sidthe) – from a chant I learned at the City of 10,000 Buddhas
GuiGui (Meadow Run) – representing ‘gui’ taking refuge
King Yama’s Mirror (Offerings) – carries a sense of saṃvega or spiritual urgency; lyrics on the ‘Poetry’ page
Song of Putuo Mountain (Elegant Tern) – written on PutuoShan, the Buddhist pilgrimage site in China
Sound of Thunderclouds (Elegant Tern) – from a line in the Past Vows of Earth Store Bodhisattva, recited after the passing of a dear one
Redstone – not an overtly Buddhist piece, but the one that I find is most effective for calming my mind and supporting contemplation
